Afro hair and Beauty Show Live 2013: Review

Today I went to the Afro hair and beauty show in London, it's the first time I've ever been and I really enjoyed it. Tickets online were £10 and buy one get one free, although being a blogger ORS treated me to some complimentary VIP tickets so I would like to thank them very much for that!

Me and my personal photographer AKA my mum, turned up when it opened, with very open minds and with no idea what to expect. The location is really nice and the business centre in Islington worked really well. As we entered there was a collection of jewellery and accessory stands. The Stand that stood out most for me was the "RYA-V" jewellery stand. I did end up buying a necklace from there for £6 at £2 off and I LOVE it. I will upload a AHB2013 haul and show it off. View the website here. The owner said they are updating the site with lots more pieces in the coming weeks.

See below for more photos!

As I mentioned earlier I was able to attend the bloggers longue by ORS (formally organic root stimulator).  I received some very nice products, which I will show you all and will review. The bloggers longue was generally very nice and the ladies there were lovely! Again I'd like to thank ORS for giving me the opportunity.

I also got my scalp analysed by ORS which was interesting.

At the back was a Design Essentials stand which was also a salon!

Whilst walking around there were a number of stands offering free samples, advice and product demonstrations. Including Taliah Waajid, Black Hair magaznine and Mixed Chicks amongst many many others. It was really interesting to see all the brands and talk to come of the owners of them. Below is a photo of me and the owner of Mixed Chicks. She described a great new product to me so be sure to look out for it.

The show had more to offer than just hair, there were various beauty stands which offered services at discount prices. Stands offered manicures and henna tattoos for reasonable prices. I even got my eyebrows threaded for the discount price of £5. There was also the opportunity to try out some beauty products and get make-overs. Basically, there was something for every beauty need.

At the back of the room was a stage in which various seminars, debates and fashion shows were featured. I only watched two different fashion shows and below are a selection of images. Firstly, we saw models promoting jouvert cosmetics and Wassiville.

The second fashion show we saw was promoting Rip the Runway UK (I think).

I really enjoyed watching the shows, I feel it was a nice addition to the day.

Overall the day was great fun!
I'll post a 'haul' of all the samples and products I got hold of.
Please follow my blog by using the button on the right if you'd like to be updated when I post this.

Did you go to AHB2013? Would you consider going in the future?

  7. Did the scalp lady tell you to exfoliate your scalp?
I went on monday and did a review. Honestly a bit disappointed ; the ORS lounge was very basic, a lightning brand had a stall, not that many brands catering to natural hair, lack of knowledge of some sale advisors

    1. She did, I didn't trust her opinion. She took a while to see any problems with my scalp and she said "you're experiencing hair loss arn't you" I was like.. erm no.
Didn't notice the lighting brand hmmm
