Design Essentials Strengthening Therapy System: Update

As many of you will know I had the design essentials Strengthening Therapy System 6 weeks ago. You can read about it here. This is just going to be a quick update on how i'm doing with it and my opinion of the treatment overall.

Expectation: Endless shine
Reality: Some shine. My roots have been really shiny and nice but the lengths and ends of my hair have  been less shiny. When the hairdresser put on the treatment I noticed that the treatment wasn't evenly spread to my ends. I feel that this un even application may have contributed to some uneven shine.

Expectation: Less frizz
Reality: Less frizz, even when I was in Croatia (35 degree heat) my hair didn't really frizz up at all. This was great because normally in heat my hair gets bigger and bigger and frizzier and frizzer. I didn't experience this at all. In addition, around week 3 I wore m hair down for a 3 hour cheerleading trainning session. Including conditioning. No frizz and no swelling was present.

This photo is from my universty summer ball, it was from 8 - 6am and the whole time my hair was looking great! In comparison, last year I had to put my hair up at about 2am due to frizz.

Expectation: Better retention
Reality: I haven't found this to be true. Mostly because I've been unsure how to look after my hair with this treatment, meaning I haven't looked after my hair as well as normal. I think i've actually had a minor set back. Not because of the treatment more because i've been unsure how to look after my hair with the treatment.

Expectation: Easier styling
Reality: Easier styling, this is 100% true. Especially when it comes to blow drying and straightening  It seems quicker and easier!

Limited frizz/ swelling after walking for around 40 minutes up hill in 35 degree heat.

So far this treatment has gone pretty well. But I don't think it is worth £150 for one treatment. I've been looking into buying my own bottle which contains a minimum of 4 treatments and costs about £200. This way it means I can be sure that the treatment covers all my strands equally and it saves me a lot of money.

UPDATE: It lead to a lot of damage!!

  1. It looks pricey but it's great to hear that it works! I'm so curious with anything like this (and Keratin Treatments) as I'd really love to find a less damaging alternative to relaxing. I'd definitely prefer to DIY too, I haven't been to a salon in so long!

    Great update :) x

  2. I got the STS done yesterday. Today I noticed what looked like 1 inch new growth at the front and nape. Is this normal? All I did was dry wrap my hair and cover w/ a scarf at bed time...
